Good evening!
ResponderEliminarwell, the dimension that I chose was sociolinguistic competence, because it is the form that used the language in social context, It's mean, when we communicate in the formal or informal way depending of the situations, for example: father and son, friends, teacher and student; I think it is a kind of natural form of a language, because it makes us react in front of any situation or circumstance where we are.
Subkey Moh...
Strategic
ResponderEliminarIs the conscious use of and reflective of the knowledge and skills for effective communication, or the resources they have to solve problems.
Example: teacher-student; this means every sense that you have found the student respond to the teacher in any context of the class.
Miurglis Chourio
Good afternoon, Like my colleague Subkey I liked the sociolinguistic dimension as this allows us to express ourselves and change all the language depending on the situation in which we are, still have to take into account several details necessary for communication to be of effectively and not be affected by several limitations that society today has.
ResponderEliminarCarlos Tova
I agree with Subkey and Carlos. I think sociolinguistic competence is a really important dimension, because it is about the acquisition of language in the society today, because it is the way to use the language in social context like subkey said before. Example: we use our sociolinguistic competence when we establish a conversation with people around our neighborhood.

The Dimention that I selected is Strategic Competence. It is the ability to make up repairs in communication, for example: I want a black coffe and the seller doesn't understand me, I can say: please give me a cup of the hot black liquid, or I want to dark capuccino, latex or other coffe's name. LEILY SALAS
ResponderEliminarAnd last, I think that the Miss said that the strategic competence was the most important to be developed, because is the more effective to communicate with the other people and we can be understood quickly. LEILY SALAS
ResponderEliminarI choosed Grammatical competence, because for me is very important and necessary in the communicative processes, and is the ability to recognize and produce the distinctive grammatical structures of a language and to use them effectively in communication (sounds, words, and sentence structure) .
ResponderEliminarFor example: Learners of French need to learn to understand the different time references of sets of words such as je partais, je parte, je parterai, and to be able to make appropriate time reference when speaking or writing.

ResponderEliminarI choose Sociolinguistic competence because It's connect
ResponderEliminarunderstanding and meaning of language based on the sociocultural rules of languaje, and We can use formal and informal languaje depending of the situations.
Examples
When greeting someone in a very formal situation an American might say, Hello, how are you? or Nice to see you again, but if he were meeting a friend in an informal situation it would be much more appropriate to say Hi, or Hey, what you been doing? (By Liliani Campo)
I choose sociolinguistics because studies language in relation to society. His goal of analysis is the influence of the factors in a language derived from the various usage scenarios, such as age, sex, ethnicity, social class or type of education received by the partners, the relationship between them or the time and place of linguistic communication occurs.
ResponderEliminarfor example try "you" to someone in a very formal, for example, the teacher at the undergraduate level, or a school visit to the Minister of Education, using a vulgar word in a religious context, when you are teaching a class
ResponderEliminarStrategic competence refers to the individual's ability to use communication strategies such as paraphrase, circumlocution, literal translation, lexical approximation, and mime to get their message across and to compensate for a limited or imperfect knowledge of rules or the interference of such factors as fatigue, distraction, and inattention. Successful language learning is not only a matter of developing grammatical, sociolinguistic, and semantic competence but also strategic competence, which involves the use of communication. strategies and their role in transmitting and comprehending messages successfully.
ResponderEliminarOne of the dimentions is Sociocultural competence, and this is importantant to have a good interaction acting as in an natural context as foregn speaker it is necessary to know the sociocultural rules, For example: if you want to make a joke it is important to be sure that someone wont be offended with that joke.
ResponderEliminarEven though, the lecturer considers that the strategic competence is the most important because it goes beyond the claasroom instructions this is the best way to keep a conversation flowing and don't le it break down, it lets you speak fluently without making too many stops.
The Grammatical Competence is the ability to produce and understand correct, syntactic, lexical and phonological forms of a language, which comes handy specially in formal situations and when we desire to make use of an accurate form of language, for example when you want to send a letter to the president of a company, or even to a friend, you have to make use of the grammatical, syntactic rules in order to make an understandable message for the reader. However, this competence in isolation, like the teacher on the video have already expressed, is not enough to develop the communicative competence that is required to master any language. On the other hand, she considers that the strategic competence is the most important because when someone is trying to establish a conversation the last thing that the speaker wants is that the communication stops by Any reason, so fluency becomes a major concern and to keep it flowing must be done through the use of different strategies, that could range from just the simple "could you repeat please?" to the use of mimicry and fillers, which would give the speaker the opportunity to sustain communication effectively.
ResponderEliminarI think that Strategic Competence is the most important because it is way we manipulate language in order to meet communicative goals, example. For example, a salesman utilizes certain strategies of communication to make a product have seem irresistible. A teacher also uses some strategies of communication to make a student not only remember the material he or she teaches but also to teach him to study. (By Liliani Campo)
ResponderEliminarSociolinguistic competence is the ability to interpret the social meaning of the choice of linguistic varieties and to use language with the appropriate social meaning for the communication situation. For example,When greeting someone in a very formal situation an American might say, Hello, how are you? or Nice to see you again, but if he were meeting a friend in an informal situation it would be much more appropriate to say Hi, or Hey, whatcha been doing? Maria Isabel Molero. C.I. 19838681.
ResponderEliminarSociolinguistics competence it is the knowledge about the rules of the speaking in relation to the social setting, the relationship with other persons and the type of language that can be used for a particular occasion.

In my opinion, the strategic competence is an important topic to the process of learning and teaching.
ResponderEliminarStrategic competence constitutes the ability of organizations and the individuals who operate within them to work within their cognitive limitations in such a way that they are able to maintain an appropriate level of responsiveness to the contingencies confronting them.
well for me is the strategic compentencesince is the ability to transmit information in an effective way to listener or reader , including the ability to use communication strategies to solve problems which arise in the communication problems.
ResponderEliminarIn my opinión I think that Sociolinguistic competence is a topic very interesting because is the knowledge of the sociocultural rules of language and of discourse. This type of competence requires an understanding of the social context in which language is used: the rules of the participants, the information they share, and the functions of the interaction. Only in a full context of this kind can judgement be made on the appropriateness of a ‘particular utterance'. The sociolinguistic competence comprises aspects, which deal with factors such as politeness, formality, metaphor, registers, and culturally related aspects of language. It also means being able to read situations and know what is the right thing to say or do. There are an infinite number of combinations of roles, tasks, contexts, and feelings that govern what is appropriate in any given encounter. It is obvious that sociolinguistic competence offers more insights in learning a language.
ResponderEliminarThe Students must be made aware of formal and informal language use. They should be knowledgeable as to appropriate expressions for different context. Students must be mindful as to when they can resort to colloquial language and when formality is necessary.
For example: when you enter the room, you say some kind of a greeting and say something like how are you or something or answer if someone asks a question, this kinds of general phraseology. Hello, good morning! How are you?? are expressions that many persons use in a context social.
Strategic competence refers to the individual's ability to use communication strategies, e.g. paraphrase, circumlocution, literal translation, lexical approximation, mime to get their message across and to compesate for a limited or imperfect knowledge of rules or the interference of such factors such as fatigue, distraction or inattention
ResponderEliminarExample:
The car is unmove (the car broke down) - Word coinage strategy.
I think the teacher said the strategy competence is very important because Strategic competence is knowing how to recognize and repair communication breakdowns, how to work around gaps in one's knowledge of the language, and how to learn more about the language and in the context. With Strategic competence we ask: How do I know when I’ve misunderstood or when someone has misunderstood me? What do I say then? How can I express my ideas if I don't know the name of something or the right verb form to use?
ResponderEliminarStrategic competence.
ResponderEliminarStrategic competence refers to a speaker's ability to adapt their use of verbal and nonverbal language to compensate for communication problems caused by the speaker's lack of understanding of proper grammar use or insufficient knowledge of social behavioral and communication norms; It means the individual's ability to use communication strategies such as paraphrase, circumlocution, literal translation, lexical approximation, and mime to get their message across and to compensate for a limited or imperfect knowledge of rules or the interference of such factors as fatigue, distraction, and inattention.
Everyone has some degree of strategic competence in any language. For examples If you are hungry, but cannot speak the language, you can probably still make your need known through gesture and facial expression because hunger is a universal fact of human life. Language learners who really need to communicate in their adopted language tend to develop a number of strategies for making themselves clear in spite of their incomplete knowledge.
I think the teacher considers strategic competence is the most important to be developed because is the best way for us to get and keeping a fluent conversation being understood by listeners with the use this strategic into the communication.

Basically, we could say that in oral interaction we have some kind of communicative goal and we set out to make a plan and execute it. If we We said that strategic competence is the ability to cope with unexpected problems, when no ready-made solutions are available. meet a problem, that is, if our command of the linguistic and sociocultural code is not adequate, we have two basic choices. On one hand, we can avoid the problem by adopting a reduction strategy: in other words, we keep our message within our communicative resources, we avoid the risk, we adjust our ends to our means — in this way we change our goal. On the other hand, we can decide to keep our goal but develop an alternative plan, we adopt an achievement strategy, we take the risk and expand our communicative resources, we adjust our means to our ends.

Sociolinguistic competence: It is one component of the communicative competence, it is characterized by “appropriateness” how to use and respond to language appropriately considering the setting, the topic, and the relationships among the people communicating (social context). Some authors associate sociolinguistic competence with, sociocultural competence, and discursive competence.
ResponderEliminarThe sociolinguistic competence has to do with the differences of record, the dialects and the accents, linguistic scoreboards of social relations (regards and forms of treatment, conventions for the shifts of word, and phrases interjections. For example in politic terms: if a president of any country is in a conference with important people, and says: Hi everybody! It is not appropriate to the context because, He should be more formal, e.g. good morning!
In other words sociolinguistic competence refers to a variety of a language. For example in The United States people talk the same language, but there are changes in the structure and production of words (Syntactic and phonetic ) such as different pronunciations and dialects in vocabulary, e.g. Phone Box (British English) Phone Booth (American English). The lecturer Stefani Laqua explains that the communicative competence is introduced by Dell Hymes (1972) she says that strategic competence is a very important element in communicative competence, because it is complex. Students do not use strategies, but most of teachers are in agreement with strategic competence because it is useful in classrooms and also is effective in the teaching learning process.
